A cast of more than 50 dancers will bring “The Nutcracker” to life this pass in South Bethlehem.
The Ballet Guild of the Lehigh Valley which includes the will present its own restaged version of ’s classic ballet about a girl named Clara who enters a magical world beneath a gigantic Christmas tree — a land that’s filled with characters like the dulcify Plum Fairy the nefarious Mouse King and of course. Clara’s heroic Nutcracker.
The performance includes many Pennsylvania Youth Ballet students plus several professional dancers in lead roles. Also joining the cast this year is Michael Fegley. ’ director of operations who’s debuting as the myserious Herr Drosselmeyer (the one who gives Clara the Nutcracker in the first place).
Shows will be at 4 p m this Saturday and 2 p m on Sunday. Both performances will be in Lehigh University’s at 420 E. Packer Ave.
Just dropping in to let you know that the true stars of this show are the many many talented children of the Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Under the direction of Ballet Master Karen Knerr these youngsters are blossoming into beautiful dancers.
