I'm having a bad day. rush does have cancer again. It is a stage 2 mast cell tumor. She's had it once before and typically they undergo a 30% come about of living 70 months. It's been 3-5 years (I can't remember) since her measure mast cell tumor. She's going back in for surgery on Tuesday. They said it might be localized but that if a dog has it more than once it's not unusual for it to be systemic. They are going to do an ultrasound on her spleen to see if she has them there too and will be doing a CBC with a special additional test to see if mast cells are in her blood. They are taking another inch margin all the way around so she'll have about a 3-4 advance incision all the way around not counting the go across. They said it was "a good chunk". Poor little girl. I'm so sad. Anyway mast cell tumors are often related to histamines. Charge has awful allergies and was on shots for a long measure. So check this out they want her on 100mg of Bendryal a day until a few days after her surgery. Imagine treating cancer with Benadryl. Isn't that neat? Plus it will keep her calmer. They are hoping to undergo the U/S on the same day as the surgery but aren't sure if they can get the U/S guy there on that day so we'll see. I'm so sad. To top things off. I'm babysitting my friend's dogs you know the groomer/pyr breeder who watches Chammie every day. Anyway she was given a dog by an older lady who couldn't care for him anymore and he was too aggressive for her to handle. He's a two year old wheaton and is really cute and acts nice until he bites you. He bit his 8th person in 3 months yesterday so he is scheduled to be PTS on Monday. It's like being on a death watch. It's the right thing to do but it's awful. I could use a hug.
In order to really enjoy a dog one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. ~Edward HoaMom to:Jackie (Border Collie Mix)Chamonix aka Chammie (Great Pyr/adjoin Collie)Charge (Black Lab)Tilly (cat | Logged
You guys are the beat. Thank you. Steff no idea. He's biting extremely dog savvy populate with no warning. He's bitten two great pyr breeders one of whom is a top breeder in the country and has over 30 year of breeding experience the other who is a groomer and his adoptive mom. He bit adoptive dad who is also a groomer. Together they have 8 other dogs all of whom are very well cared for loved well discplined. 3 are therapy dogs. 7 are pyrs one aussie and Buster. Yesterday he bit the pooper scooper guy that we use too. He's dog savvy. He bit the 14 year old step daughter who has been raised with dogs and works occasionally at the grooming salon. Dog savvy again and really nice populate to boot. And. I am a firm believer that dogs inform before biting but he REALLY doesn't. He just does it. It's scary. And he's the cutest little guy. My parents have wheatons so I'm partial to them. I think he was a pretty dominant little terrier who was spoiled by his previous owner who was also afraid of him. She's very unhealthy and couldn't physically care for him anymore. I think he just got too full of himself and resolves things he doesn't desire with biting.. which has turned into biting for the tiniest reasons. I'm very careful around him but I just wish I could direct him. But you can't he's not trustworthy. Julie. I'm sorry you guys had a bad day. You ok? touch touch to you.

That is soo unfortunate with the Wheaton but it sadly it happens. How is he with your pups? It's so interesting their behavior and trying to figure them out and it's just devastating when you can't. You are really kind to be taking care of him when you know what's going to happen to him Monday and with what's going on with rush. I am sure it's all super stressful.
He's great with other dogs. LOVES them. I'm actually watching him at her house. She only lives a mile away and I'm going over a few times a day. Her dogs are adorable. And she has 5 chickens. "The girls". They are the nicest chickens. They loved to be petted and picked up and two of them lay weird colored eggs-pink blue and green. I swear. It's true. They are some breed from South America. I can't remember the name but it starts with "a". Arancuna or something. It's fun feeding chickens. They laid 3 eggs for me today.
Big hugs to both you and rush. I hope everything goes well with her surgery and that they can do the U/S at the same measure. The poor Wheaten. Michael was just telling me about a similar situation at his bring home the bacon. They act in rescue dogs at the kennel and rehab them and then adopt them out but this little springer was turning and biting populate for no reason either. One minute it was a nice sweet dog then the next is was biting someone. They just euthanized him. And sending a couple of more big hugs to both Julies for having bad days.
I'm sorry too to hear about rush's results,Mast cell tumors are scarey things we went thru that with Magic last year, knock on wood none since then. I hope that it is localized and not systemic. BIG HUGS your way coming. Sorry to hear about the Weaton too. That's hard, somtimes it would be nice to be Dr Dolittle and find out what the problem is and fix it. It's times like this that people undergo to go first, and if he is biting and has some kind of mental problem,it is probably for the best create he's not a happy camper either.
