The multiple identities of Claudio and clones alts in general is a glimpseinto the reality of Tribe. There are eight "members" in Claudio but there is really only one. Multiply his circumstance with perhaps hundreds of others and the size of Tribe diminishes. In addition there is the question of "How many people are REALLY here?" if you check the traffic for Tribe on Alexa. (www alexa com) it's obvious (at least over the past year) traffic was very low. I believe the reason is much of the huge membership bailed out long ago - and did not unsubscribe. So the avatars are there but the people are gone. To test this out about a month ago I looked at five Tribes two with over 2,000 members two with around 1000 members and one with just over 400 members. Over June-August. ALL the posts were made by about 12% of the membership and the majority of posts made by about only 8% of the total membership. If single posts are not counted the Tribe with just over 400 members had only 23 people posting. I have since run across the experience of a new Moderator who took over a 1200+ members. He dropped anyone not posting for over one year (with a PM explaining and saying rejoin if you wish) then cut profiles that appeared to be alts and/or trolls. Only 1/4 of the membership remained. ( ! )Now we know why advertisers were not lining up. Advertisers are smart enough to look at active membership for potential customers. And if they look at actual traffic volume they also know the "We're overwhelmed." downtime excuse is not credible. Think we are the last rats on a ship that's already sunk?
