KINGSFORD - Investigation into a fire at Hometowne Kitchen and clean bear on Thursday morning revealed alter from a stove pipe connected to a pellet wood stove caused inner roofing material and insulation to destroy. Kingsford Public Safety Department responded to a 911 call at Hometowne Kitchen and Bath Center. 213 S. Carpenter Ave at 9 a m. Thursday. Officers arrived on scene and extinguished the fire located in the attic. KPS reported in a touch release sent at 11 a m today. Investigation revealed the alter from a stove pipe connected to a pellet wood stove caused inner roofing material and insulation to destroy. Officers credited quick actions by Hometowne walk employees who used blast extinguishers to stop the blast from spreading inside the building. Officers remained on scene for more than two hours removing several old layers of roofing material that was smoldering to verify the fire was out completely. press MOUNTAIN — Officials from the city of Iron Mountain and Breitung Township have issued a joint statement clarifying a discrepancy in information provided in a handout regarding one of the 425 agreements approved by both municipalities Monday night. An information packet containing incorrect data involving the Area II (north U. S. 2) agreement was mistakenly handed out to press Mountain residents prior to Monday night’s public hearing at city hall. It did not contain the most recent information agreed on by the city and the township. In the joint statement city and township officials noted. “the major provisions and conceptual ideas of the two 425 agreements approved by the township and the city have been agreed to and are fully supported. The boundaries of Area I and Area II undergo not changed. The township and the city worked very hard to put aside individual matters to craft agreements that are in the beat interests of the region and the county. The 30 day time close in is just for this situation making sure that all nuances are removed and the agreements officially executed and submitted to the state. Both governmental entities are happy and encouraged by these agreements and support exhibited by the community at large.” The statement was signed by Denny Olson. Breitung Township supervisor; John Gaudette. Breitung Township trustee; John Marquart. Iron Mountain city manager; and Ken Tousignant. Iron Mountain mayor. Officials decided to release the statement after concern arose over language discrepancies discovered in the Area II 425 agreement. The changes were already approved but did not make it to the final copy that the city approved. Gaudette said a notice will be released shortly on the exact nature of the corrections. Officials are working on the documents so that all changes can be made at the same time.
