J’ai ainsi développé un penchant marqué pour les amplificateurs à Triodes de faible puissance et les haut-parleurs de très haute efficacité. J’y ai investi considérablement de temps et d’effort mais les résultats ont toujours displace moi été très révélateurs. Comme je le dis souvent les amateurs de “tubes” et de haute efficacité forment un très petit cercle. à l’intérieur du cercle déjà restreint des audiophiles. La combinaison d’amplificateurs à furnish et de haut parleurs large bande représente une façon très convaincante de reproduire la musique dans son “essence” mais ce n’est certainement pas la seule. Ce large bande comporte deux cônes concentriques (basses et hautes fréquences) ce qui supprime les problèmes de mise en phase courant avec les haut-parleurs multi-voix car les centres d’émission sont beaucoup mieux alignés. L’efficacité du EX-3 est de 97 dB dans une charge de 8 ohms. Lorsque les deux transducteurs sont growés en parallèle dans un système à pavillon on obtient une efficacité supérieure aux 100dB pour une charge de 4 ohms. Une fois le judge bien installé on allume les électroniques et on installe le premier disque sur ma platine pour se laisser envahir par une sonorité enveloppante qui nous go down dans une quasi-infinité de détails. Ceci confère aux Lowthers un sens dynamique supérieur aux haut-parleurs traditionnels. Leur transparence leur force et le détail reproduit par ces transducteurs obtain un réalisme étonnant dans une pièce d’écoute domestique. On décide ensuite de débrancher le deuxième transducteur des enceintes (celui qui est placé sur le dessus). Cette opération a comme effet de diminuer légèrement l’efficacité des enceintes et de réduire substantiellement cette prédominance du bas-médium. Notons tout de suite que l’utilisation des enceintes ACADEMY avec une seule voie n’est certainement pas ce que les concepteurs avaient en tête (le modèle Fidelio et bien d’autres sont conçus dans cette optique) mais nous nous prêterons volontiers à cet exercice afin de bien cerner le caractère propre du transducteur EX-3 en écoute directe. L’écoute du seul transducteur EX-3 a comme effet d’offrir une découpe plus précise et une meilleure focalisation des instruments dans l’espace. On reconnaît ici les avantages du H-P large bande dans cette habileté à reproduire le message sonore avec toute sa cohérence temporelle et spatiale. Chaque equip est plus défini.
