I am just wanting to share with others who are in the same place have been in the same displace or were here in the past. I was unsure where to go and this board popped up while researching. Thank you for reading our story and giving any advise related to the topic or otherwise so here is our story:
My 62 yo mother was diagnosed with re-create IV pancreatic cancer yesterday and after research I believe it is state IVB. The cat scan and test results show it is anedoarcenoma in the pancreas and she has mets to her liver. We were never given the option for surgery because she is too far gone. Yesterday the oncologist scheduled more blood work a turn to be installed and will be starting her on gemcit (? sp) chemo for 6 weeks then will have another ct examine to see if it is spreading or not.
It is hard to talk about but even harder to talk about finances to everyone here but I need to know if anyone else has had this problem..... bad news is my mother does not undergo insurance. Her and my daddy were self employed for years and when it came measure to paying the insurance premiums after they retired they had to end - eat or undergo insurance. Daddy is ok he is 69 and has Medicare. Mom is too young. 62 1/2 (funny how I add in the 1/2 now desire we did when we were kids)Â Â We are reaching out to the hospital for there program. Also we have been told that Social Security Diability is something she needs to apply for. Since it is a terminal illness can she receive medicare early instead of waiting until she is 65. (which we experience she will not 2 1/2 years seems to be a desire time right now) Has anyone done this?Â
Also any other ideas you could share with myself and my family on anything related to this disease would be greatly appreciated.

I undergo no answers regarding the insurance dilema that you are faced with. But I had to write to you to say how very sorry I am for you and your family. My mother is also fighting this disease. When I construe your message my heart literally ached. This is just a nasty disease very hard on everyone. Our country is in a sad sad express - your mom deserves the best care available. I wish something works out for you - no one should have to worry about finances at a time desire this. Good luck we are all in this together.Â
On the Montel Williams show there is help available for medication they have in mind the telecommunicate # daily,Â
As far as hospital and doctor - I construe a "compassion law" in a California hospital saying that no one should ever be turned away - you may want to investigate  at the hospital there, and see if it is the same
My Mom was diagnosed stage IV in March. Medicare has covered her Gemzar chemo and Doctor visits without any questions. All of her testing blood. Ct scans etc are also covered
She is also on Tarceva a pill which her perscription plan covers. I don't know if Medicare does or doesn't cover that med.
I ordain not stop. I am hitting the streets tomorrow and going in person to each displace again and ask again wish me luck.
thank you for your response. I ordain check with the Montel show website and see if I can find the link - convey you for that suggestion.
I experience the hospital is seeing her and will send the bills accordingly. CAT scans are not cheap. She had her port-a-cath placed Friday and it went great but that is going to be costly. But it is no be for she is receiving the much needed care. Bad news about the hospital charity care since mom started to receive her social security in the last 6 months it put her over the qualifying amount by $200 a month!!!! One way or another we ordain overcome this - I undergo faith.
Lastly the cancer care treatment center is requesting $500 drink and a promisory note to be singed tomorrow before she can acquire her chemo. The bear on is trying to get the chemo from the manufacturer for remove but the doctor nurses and facility undergo to be paid.
I am on the hunt for the government to back up my mom mostly a stay at home mom who worked some jobs while we were kids until her and my dad were self employed publishing an advertising paper. The cover went south with the Texas floods in 1998 and they started their retirement small Social Security checks of my dads but making it. Funny how we never knew things would go to this. A woman who never broke the law,was a good citizen, voted took part in the community and gave back however she could. Something has to be out there and I am on the mission to find it!
So sorry to comprehend of your care and my thoughts are with you both. How is she doing? Is the Gemzar chemo working for her. We pray that ordain work for mom. Her doctor is placing her on it for 6 weeks one dose a week and then in 7-8 week take another cat scan and see if there are any changes.
She is so tired and fatigued and has not even started the chemo. I hope she will act to alter.
